Recently, Trina Energy Storage's first energy storage system project with a single unit capacity of 1.2GWh was successfully shipped and officially set sail for Chile. This breakthrough not only marks that Trina Energy Storage's overseas single unit project delivery capabilities have officially entered the "GWh era."

Chile boasts abundant wind and solar resources, but with the recent surge in renewable energy installations, curtailment has far outpaced installed capacity, leading to lower returns on large-scale ground-mounted power station projects. Against this backdrop, Chile's energy storage market is experiencing explosive growth. According to data from the Chilean Ministry of Energy, by the first quarter of 2025, Chile's operational energy storage capacity had reached 3,660MWh, placing it at the forefront of the Latin American energy storage market.

Trina Energy Storage is targeting the booming market and empowering its energy transition with leading technology. The 1.2GWh liquid-cooled energy storage system will be deployed in the world's driest desert, the Atacama Desert in northern Chile.

According to reports, Trina Energy Storage has customized the Elementa King Kong 2 desert solution to address the harsh environment of the project site, such as high temperatures and strong sand and dust. This solution ensures stable operation under harsh conditions, significantly reduces equipment failure rates and operation and maintenance costs, and can quickly respond to grid fluctuations to accurately balance electricity supply and demand.

Facing the complex challenges of single GWh-scale projects, Trina Energy Storage has established a closed-loop capability cycle with the dual guarantees of soft and hard capabilities. In the large-scale delivery phase , the company leverages its vertically integrated industrial chain layout, intelligent production system, and stringent quality control procedures to achieve full process control. Deep collaboration across the industrial chain addresses the challenges of material scheduling and process integration in large-scale production. The intelligent manufacturing system significantly improves production efficiency and consistency through data-driven management and control. Combined with full-process quality control standards, this ultimately ensures on-time, high-quality, and on-quantity product delivery.

Trina Energy Storage also launched a localized service strategy to ensure the smooth implementation and long-term stable operation of the project in Chile. First, the company established a local operations and maintenance team familiar with local regulations and market demands, ensuring zero-delay service response times. Second, it integrated regional supply chain resources in Latin America to shorten logistics cycles and collaboration costs. Third, it established a full-cycle after-sales service system covering commissioning, operation, and maintenance, forming an end-to-end service chain encompassing "early stage docking, mid-stage implementation, and late stage operations and maintenance." This dual approach of large-scale delivery capabilities and a localized service network not only ensures delivery commitments to customers but also lays a solid foundation for the project's long-term stable operation in Chile.

The launch of this GWh-scale project in Chile is a key step in Trina Energy Storage's global expansion. It not only establishes a benchmark for Trina Energy Storage's expansion into the Latin American market, but also provides strong support for the clean energy transition in Chile and surrounding areas with reliable energy storage solutions.

Currently, Trina Energy's energy storage business covers over 100 countries and regions worldwide. By the end of 2024, Trina Energy's cumulative shipments of battery compartments and systems will reach 10GWh. Looking ahead, Trina Energy will continue to drive development through innovation, focusing on technology research and development, intelligent manufacturing, and the development of a global service network. With higher-quality energy storage products, Trina Energy will empower the green upgrade of the global energy mix and work with the world towards a zero-carbon future.
