Recently, State Grid Corporation of China has made a series of adjustments to its organizational structure, involving changes in headquarters departments and directly affiliated units, aiming to further optimize internal management and business layout.
Regarding headquarters departments and related organizations, the former "Pumped Storage and New Energy Business Unit" has been disbanded. This unit was established in 2021 when State Grid initiated an organizational reform, integrating pumped storage, wind power, and photovoltaic businesses that were scattered across various departments. This unit now oversees the company's strategic planning, project development, and operational management of new energy. In July of this year, to strengthen the strategic position of pumped storage, State Grid separated the pumped storage business from the original business unit. The disbanding of the "Pumped Storage and New Energy Business Unit" marks a further shift in the management model of the pumped storage and new energy businesses.
Meanwhile, the newly established State Grid Pumped Storage Division (Xinyuan Group and Xinyuan Holdings) ranks first among its directly affiliated units. On July 31st, a meeting to promote key tasks for the second half of 2025 was held in Beijing. Public information indicates that Guo Ju serves as Chairman and Party Secretary of Xinyuan Group and Xinyuan Holdings, as well as the first Director of the Pumped Storage Division. This division will oversee the strategic planning, investment, construction, operational management, and technical standard development of pumped storage power stations within State Grid's operating regions. This highlights the core role of pumped storage in the new power system regulation framework and promotes the professionalization and high-quality development of the business.
In addition, the former "State Grid Corporation of China Information and Communications Branch" and "State Grid Corporation of China Big Data Center" have been merged and reorganized into the State Grid Corporation of China Information and Communications Center (Big Data Center). This integration is expected to promote the coordinated development of information and communications and big data services, enhance data resource utilization efficiency and information and communications service capabilities, and better support State Grid's digital transformation and intelligent upgrade.
The organizational restructuring of State Grid is an important measure for it to adapt to the new situation of energy development and optimize its business management structure. It is expected to release new vitality in business areas such as pumped storage, new energy and information and communications, and promote the company's sustainable development.
